Archiving Policy

SocioLumen Journal of Social Sciences is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, integrity and continued availability of its published scholarly content. The journal’s archiving policy aims to protect the scholarly record in the event of technical failure, data loss, platform migration or the cessation of the journal’s publishing activities.

Digital Preservation

The following elements of published articles are included within the scope of digital preservation:

  • The final published full text of the article;
  • The article’s title, abstract, keywords and author information;
  • DOI and other identifying information;
  • Volume, issue and page information;
  • Supplementary files and research materials;
  • Correction, retraction and update notices;
  • Publication and licensing information.

Published content is preserved within the OJS infrastructure. Regular backups are made of the journal’s database, article files, images, supplementary materials and system configuration. Whenever possible, backup copies are stored in secure digital environments independent of the primary server.

PKP Preservation Network

SocioLumen Journal of Social Sciences is committed to participating in the Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network (PKP PN) for long-term digital preservation.

PKP PN is a distributed preservation system designed to protect scholarly content published through OJS across multiple geographical locations. It enables preserved content to be restored and made accessible if the journal ceases publication or its website becomes permanently unavailable.

Participation in PKP PN will be completed after the journal obtains an ISSN, publishes at least one article, operates a compatible version of OJS, enables the relevant plugin and accepts the applicable preservation terms. Once these requirements have been fulfilled, previously published and newly released content will be deposited in the preservation network on a continuing basis. Author Self-Archiving

Authors may archive the following versions of their manuscripts without an embargo:

  • The submitted version before peer review;
  • The accepted version following peer review;
  • The final Version of Record published by the journal.

Authors may deposit these versions in institutional repositories, subject-based repositories, personal academic websites or researcher profiles. When sharing the final published version, authors must include the complete bibliographic citation, journal title, publication date and DOI link.

Persistent Identifiers and Continuity of Access

The journal aims to assign persistent digital identifiers to its published articles. If an article’s web address changes, the relevant identifier and metadata records will be updated to direct readers to the correct published version.

In cases involving corrections, retractions or republication, previous publication records will not be completely removed. The transparency of the scholarly record will be maintained, and all relevant notices will be archived and linked to the published article.

Cessation of Publication

If the journal ceases its publishing activities, appropriate technical and administrative measures will be taken to maintain access to its previously published content. Existing archives will continue to be preserved through PKP PN, institutional repositories or another appropriate and trusted digital preservation service.
