Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
- This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
- This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
- All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
- All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
- Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
Research Articles
The Research Articles section publishes original empirical or theoretical studies that make a clear contribution to the social sciences. Submissions may employ qualitative, quantitative, comparative, historical, interdisciplinary, or mixed-method research designs.
Manuscripts must present a clearly defined research problem or question, engage critically with the relevant literature, explain the research design and methods, and support their findings or arguments with appropriate evidence. Previously published manuscripts or manuscripts simultaneously under consideration by another journal are not accepted.
Research articles should normally include a title, an abstract of 150–250 words, 4–6 keywords, an introduction, a literature review or theoretical framework, a methodology section where applicable, findings or analysis, discussion, conclusion, and references. The structure may be adapted to the conventions of the relevant discipline and the nature of the research.
The recommended manuscript length is 5,000–9,000 words, excluding the abstract, references, tables, figures, and appendices. Longer manuscripts may be considered where their scope or methodological requirements provide sufficient justification.
Authors must disclose funding sources, potential conflicts of interest, and ethical approval where required. Studies involving human participants, personal data, interviews, surveys, or other ethically sensitive materials must comply with applicable ethical standards.
All submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment for relevance, originality, academic quality, ethical compliance, and conformity with the journal’s guidelines. Manuscripts that pass this assessment are evaluated through double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent reviewers. The final decision is made by the editor based on the reviewers’ reports, the author’s revisions, and the journal’s editorial policies.
Review Articles
The Review Articles section publishes studies that critically examine, evaluate, and synthesize the existing scholarly literature on a clearly defined subject within the social sciences.
Review articles should go beyond a descriptive summary of previous publications. Manuscripts are expected to identify major theories, approaches, debates, methodological developments, limitations, inconsistencies, and research gaps in the relevant literature. They should offer an original synthesis, interpretation, conceptual framework, or research agenda that contributes to the advancement of the field.
Narrative reviews, systematic reviews, scoping reviews, theoretical reviews, bibliometric studies, and meta-analyses may be considered for publication. Authors must clearly state the type and scope of the review and explain the criteria used to identify, select, evaluate, and analyze the relevant literature. Systematic and similar evidence-based reviews should provide sufficiently transparent information to allow readers to understand and assess the review process.

The structure may be adapted according to the type and purpose of the review.
The recommended length is 4,000–8,000 words, excluding the abstract, references, tables, figures, and appendices. Longer submissions may be considered where the breadth of the literature or the methodological requirements of the study provide sufficient justification.
Authors must disclose funding sources and potential conflicts of interest. Review articles must represent the relevant literature in a balanced and academically responsible manner and should not intentionally exclude significant opposing findings or perspectives.

Privacy Statement
SocioLumen: Journal of Social Sciences respects users’ privacy and the protection of their personal data. The journal system may collect users’ names, email addresses, institutional affiliations, ORCID identifiers, account information, and data provided during manuscript submission, peer review, and editorial processes.
These data are processed for purposes including managing user accounts, conducting submission and evaluation procedures, maintaining editorial communication, recording published works, protecting system security, and fulfilling applicable legal obligations.
Access to personal data is limited to authorised editors, reviewers, journal managers, and technical service providers to the extent necessary for their duties. Authors’ names, affiliations, ORCID identifiers, and bibliographic information may become publicly available as part of the published scholarly record. Personal data are not sold for commercial purposes or used for unauthorised marketing activities.
Data may be retained for as long as necessary to preserve editorial and scholarly records, maintain publication ethics, fulfil legal obligations, and support the journal’s legitimate activities. When the reasons requiring retention no longer apply, data may be deleted, anonymised, or made inaccessible, subject to applicable legislation and the need to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
The journal website may use essential cookies to manage user sessions and ensure the secure operation of the system. Technical information such as IP addresses, access times, browser details, and error logs may be retained in server records for security, statistical analysis, performance assessment, and troubleshooting purposes.
Under applicable KVKK and GDPR provisions, users may request information about their personal data, correction of incomplete or inaccurate information, and deletion where the relevant legal conditions are satisfied. Requests will be assessed in consideration of legal obligations, the integrity of the scholarly record, publication ethics, security requirements, and legitimate editorial needs.
